Delta66/Omni users please read

Is the Audio Buddy (or other preamps) necessary (or even beneficial) with the Omni I/O box? I'm checking out condenser mics, and wondering if the Omni's built-in preamp is sufficient. Will a preamp like the Buddy improve the quality noticably?

The Omni I/O has two built in preamps which are said to be the same as were used in the DMP2 preamp. I find them to be quite sufficient for use with any mic I've tried. The preamps are quiet, have plenty of gain, and are very neutral sounding to me. If you need more than two channels of mic pres, then the addition of an Audio Buddy/DMP3 or other will also work.

Just wanted to add a ditto. I have the Omni as well. I have a couple of dynamics and an SP C-1. The Omni pre's and phantom power work just fine for the C-1. If two channels is all you need, you're all set.
