...i have quite a few questions...i've been doing as much research as possible on hard disk recording but unfortunately i'm still unclear on a few things...i want set up a computer based studio because of upgradability and blah blah blah, a bunch of other reasons...i guess...anyway, i'm considering a delta44 for my first interface, because i just need some analog ins/outs, nothin fancy...(this a good choice?)...anyway, my first question - i have two berhinger 1202 mixers (which apparantly everyone around here hates) that i use for live shows and i'd like to use them in the studio as well...let's say i plug in a guitar, bass, keyboard, and drum machine in the four mono channels, use the mixer's inserts as 'sends' to the delta44 and onto the computer...do tell, what happens next? ...now, obviously my next question is software...i need something simple, not too outrageous with features i'll never use (any suggestions?)...by the way, with the delta44 and the right software, is it possible to have real-time effects, i.e. i plug my guitar straight (clean) direct to mixer to delta, then add effects like chorus or something goofy like that with software, then output from delta to moniters with the said effects and ziltch latency? umm...my next question...can i just get some feedback, do i have the right idea? instrument->mixer->delta->software(mix&master)->monitors...right?
i would greatly appreciate some advice...gracias.

5. gracias.

1. Yes, it is a good choice.

2. That is one way to connect the devices.

3. I think that you need to state that question with a little more clarity. Are you asking the question of.... can you make real time effect changes to the live music while recording it to your hard drive? Or are you asking the question of.... can you record the live instrument to the Hard drive, then add real time effects to the previously recorded material?

4. Yes.

5. Denada. ;)

Peace...

Your software records it onto 4 different channels.

Cubase SX is pretty cool

Don't count on it. You still need an effects processor for that. You can easily use effect during mixdown on the recorded tracks but not while playing live.
