Hey I have a Delta 1010LT and I have a MXL 990 studio condenser microphone running to the mic 1 XLR input. For some reason I can't seem to get any sound from it to my computer. I have tried all the input channels but none of them seem to pick up the XLR. Anything I am doing wrong?

Jumpers maybe?

Check what the jumpers on the card are set to and look in the manual and see if that's what you need.

I already checkd in the manual. It says to leave jumpers at the default if you plan on using a dynamic or studio condenser micrphone. So I am fine there.

Well if recall correctly then at default you should get a 'mic level' at the default set up. You put up the levels in the softwre mixer? I mean check both Patchbay/Router and Hardware settings.

well i believe the problem is that the 1010lt doesn't provide phantom power, which condensors need. you'll need an external preamp with phantom power for that mic to record. only dynamic mics work with the xlr inputs on the 1010lt

Yeah I have all the levels set.

That's most likely what it is phil, thanks man It's been giving me a headache all night and nothing logically made sense as to why it would not be recording.

I didn't think of it that way for this reason. In the manual it says if you you are connecting a dynamic or studio condenser mic to the XLR outputs leave it to default, and if you're using a preamp then switch the jumps. That makes no sense because if I can't run a studio condenser mic right in to the XLR jack why would I ever do it? Why wouldn't the manual just say "if you're running a dynamic mic in to the XLR jack" insted of dynamic AND studio condenser.

"If you're running dynamic mic or doing something that's impossible leave it on default." is what they should reword it to.

Retarded manuals. Not to mention I e-mailed m-audio tech support over a week ago about another issue and yet to see a reply. Piss I tell you!

OK, now my next question being, can anyone reccomend a good pre-amp for this microphone? Not REAL cheap, but not incredibly high end either.

Thanks for all the help fellas I appreciate it. This sound card has been a trip!

oh, i had no idea they made those. shows you how little i know. i just bought a 1010lt and have been thinking of getting a condensor mic so that may be useful should i choose to get one

The M-Audio 1010LT does not provide the phantom power req. to drive a condensor microphone. My Shure SM7B (a dynamic) works just fine with the 1010LT that I am borrowing.

If you need to use a condensor, instead of popping for a phantom power supply, you might consider a M-Audio AudioBuddy (two channels) for a little bit more.

Nice reccomendations. :D I think the audio buddy would be a better bet for my mics. Thanks a lot guys.
