Hi All: My delta 1010 has developed a serious buzz. I am told by fellow forum member superhuman, that this is comon and is a result of bad capacitors. I have a guy that does repairs for me, but is out of town for a couple weeks. I am a recording junkie and can't be that long without recording. I looked up the echo layla 3g and the Echo Layla 20Bit Pro Audio Recording Interface. I see the Genuine Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon CPU
Motherboard with Intel, AMD, Via, or NVIDIA chipset is required for the 3G and I am not sure what the Echo/Event Layla 20-bit Audio Digital Interface Multi-track recording System requires. I have an intelR celeron(R) CPU 2.40ghz, 2.40ghz (whatever all this means I have no idea). Any suggestions on which way to go with this- should I buy another 1010 (it works fine with my computer) or is one of the echo laylas a better deal? Thanks. Walter

If your 1010 worked with your computer, I'd be surprised if the 3G gave you any issues. "Intel, AMD, Via, or NVIDIA" pretty much covers them all, VIA being the most problematic (potentially) in my experience.

I changed from a 1010 to a 3G a few years ago. The 3G is a little better sounding on playback, dunno about record as I record into HD recorder.

Although you don't need the preamps, you also of course don't have to use them (I've never tried them).

The Layla 20Bit must be a discontinued item as I don't see it on echo's site, most stuff is 24bit these days.

Your machine should run any of those with no problem. I have a Layla 24/96 that I am very pleased with. Echo makes solid performers.

thanks for all the replies! I am not that skilled with a soldering iron. My repairman is out of town for 2 weeks and I will go nuts without recording till then. So, I guess I am going to buy a new or used unit and have this one repaired when he returns. I started another post seeking help with buying a new sound card. Walter
