Is there such a book?
That covers major brands & their models with parameters, that could be used in a comparative way?

Rolf, the guy behind this site is great. He restores and sells open reel units, many of which are the multitrack type. He actually could set you up with a nice 4 track unit, with a mixer, all working to factory specs. He packs great too so no fear of shipping damage. I'd contact him if I were you.
