decent preamp/di box combo for cheap?

Yeah, I need one that is really a bang for your buck. I'm willing to spend up to 300. Are there any decent sounding preamps that are also di boxes? Thanks!
 
Look for a used Groove Tubes Brick ($400 new, but can be had under $300 used). A great all-tube preamp with a killer DI...makes your bass sing.
 
hey, thanks! Weirdly enough, I don't use bass. I use guitar, electric guitar, piano, hohner pianet t, rhodes, congas, bongos, other percussion, hopefully violin and accordion, but bass has never really occured to me......But sounds great, my rhodes needs a Di REALLY BAD.
 
yeah I thought of a tampa. Is the sound really much of an increase over a mixers pre thoug?
 
Why not just a good DI - like the Radial JDI...if you need a pre look at the VTB1 as well...at 300 it's better to just save it and work up to a Brick or Toft EC-1 or something...
