Decca mic tree

I heard about this strange kind of tree that grew microphones the other day that grows in the magical valleys & fields of Deccaland..................put the pipe down!!!

OK the question is. What is this mic tree all about?? I think it's used to record orchestras but I don't know

it sounds like one would need a large room in order to get out of his mic tree (as it where) :p :p

you know, it was actually a mic tree (not a cherry tree) that geoge washington cut down...
im just kiddin ya.

aye aye thousands of results, at least if I post in ere' then I get a few really informed results
 
My understanding is that it is used to
record orchestras. It is suspended from the
ceiling. There are three mikes on it, positioned
in a triangle shape. Sometimes sound-supported
by a mic off to each side of the
orchestra -- so five mikes altogether.
They hang the tree above the conductor's
head.
