Hey man, I respect your politics! Thanks for listening to the song. I will think about bringing the voice down a bit if I remix. Hope you can check out the video too.

Vocals are very clear. The lead vocal might be just a bit too loud. You could probably turn it down a db or two. I wasn't a big fan of the vocal delivery. Sounded like someone trying to impersonate Peter Paul and Mary. Not to say they aren't a great group to aspire to sound like. This just sounded like an impersonation.

The bass dominates the other instruments.

The guitar sounds OK. The there's some low mid frequency that's creating just a bit of cloudiness. I'm thinking a small narrow cut somewhere between 400hz-500hz might clear it up. Not much, it sounds decent as it is.

Lol - seems that a lot of the world's politics get dictated by what goes on in Washington - certainly our current prime minister seems to follow along. But we are off topic - do you like the mix?

Come on guys. It's about the mix/song. Are we going to start picking apart everyone's subject matter just because some of us don't agree with the content?


As far as the mix goes, I think it's good for this type of song. The guitar seems to be stronger in the left speaker. Not that that's a bad thing, but you might want to try bringing the drums over to the right, to balance it out. I'd never suggest panning drums more to one side than the other, but this might be an exception.

OK I took the suggestions above and took 2db off the lead vocal. I made a small cut in the low-mids on the guitar. Any Peter, Paul and Mary impressions are unintentional however - couldn't do much about that! Didn't see Rami's post before I re-mixed, so I didn't make any changes to the drums.

What do you think now? (Link is the same).

Lemon tree, very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet...

I wasn't trying to turn it political, though that IS the topic of the song.

It's just that he is singing it from a "my president" perspective, which made it odd coming from a Canadian (or anyone not a US citizen). Of course, I did consider that the OP was a displaced US guy, living in Canada.... ;)

I usually don't, but I got razzed by guitaristic for telling Clam Soup he should post his songs in the MP3 clinic so we can hear what he is talking about when he says he doesn't like the sound...when in fact he had already done so a few days earlier...
...so I poked my head in to see what was up..and then I saw this thread.

I think I'll stay out for awhile...it seems to be making KC nervous, even though I didn't get him banned, 'cuz I'm not his speech writer! :D

Though maybe I should start hanging out a bit more... ;)

Anyway...you guys go ahead back to the topic...and PS to the OP...it's not a bad song overall. I haven't heard a real protest song in 40 years!!! :)

The guitars are too low. Sounds like a Irish Cat Stevens :p Performance sounds pretty good, I think the guitar is just too low.
