Personally, whenever I do become an artist & get in the same Predicament, the time I spend on halt in the booth, I take care of the business. Only way to move is to move foward. However, for artists with blocks, like they said, listen to your inspirations, jolt down ideas, plots, etc. Usually before you finished, you'll have something to write about.
Good exercises from writers, when you wake up, pick up the pad, write for only 10 minutes, no more no less, and whatever comes to your mind. No erasing, no scribbling things out etc. You'll start to wake up and want to write down something better etc.
