Upgraded my Pod to the new Pod HD 500 recently...still trying to get the hang of it , thought I would try and record a cover with it...this is pretty rough still...no fills, eq etc...just raw POD.....and some crappy slide guitar .....I'm kinda digging the guitar tones this thing has so far.....thoughts /feedback are welcome as I think i will continue to work on this....

Cool song to cover.

The lead guitar is a little bright and ear crushing. Rhythms sound good. The slide guitar is over the top, but in an awesome kind of way.

That lead /fill guitar is my Tele thru a "Fender Blackface" model on the Pod...trying to get a country twang...not my usual tone of choice....Rhythm guitars were a Line6 Variax on the les paul jr setting....The slide guitar was my Firebird thru a "Park70" model...which I think is supposed to be like a Marshall type sound ...will be toning down that tele for sure...

Queepy, I always love your stuff and this one is no exception. The Tele needs less twang and more grit. Then I think the mix would gel a lot better.

Cool cow punk version of a great song.
The lead is a little sparkley.
Cow Punk was pretty popular for a while - I have a couple of albums of the stuff.

Thanks guitar zero and Ray...agree about that noodly ice pik tele ...so I decided to cut it out and replace it with slide guitar for the intros/chorus and used my Firebird for the guitar solo.....also worked on the drum arrangement a little ....the streaming mp3 player from soundclick sounds way more muffled then the wav does here on my system, not sure whats up with that, but here is the new version:

Queepy, I like this version way better. The slide guitar needs to come up a bit in the first chorus. It's fine in the second. The lead tone is way better. Good work.

The drums sounds kinda burried at times, specially when the guitars kicks inn, perhaps scooping out som mids on the guitars could help, if not just lowering them.

cool cover, love the vocals on this.

Cool queepy. I didn't expect this tempo although I should come to expect unconvential arrangements from you by now. The verses almost sound like the Cars (sorry - not meant in a bad way) with the guitars and bass and drums all locked in like they are. The chorus shifts into a more punk kind of vibe which is cool.

I like the vocal sound a lot on this one. The delay is cool and while sometimes I feel like your vocals are drowning in effects to the point where I can't make them out - these are just right!

I did find the solo to kind of jump out a little too much at 2:30...maybe you could ease into it volume-wise just a bit? Good job. I enjoyed this.

Guitar Zero - Thanks for listening again! I Like this arrangement better with the slide guitar doing the fills /accents....still not happy with the mix after sitting with it a few days....vocals are too over processed(even for me ), and overall a little muddy...gonna tweek this weekend!

Nakatira - Hi Nak, Im always hesitant to cut mids from guitars as I don't want to loose any crunch/energy from them( and I mix like a guitarist :o)...but will give it a try a I agree , it is muddy and the drums are lost at times...Thanks for checking it!

heatmiser - Yeah, I really wanted to change the feel vibe on this one from the original...I love this period of the Stones, and thought this song in particular would also work as a more upbeat, rocker as opposed to the original country blues type of thing. I really dig the the Cars(1st 2 albums) so I can see how that influence would creep into my arrangement...agree about the solo...on my list to tweek!
Thanks again for the feedback!

Enjoyed your rendition thoroughly. Been playing this song live for 15 years and now the age old question has been answered..."What would Joe Jackson sound like playing the Stones". Ok it's probably never been asked but I like the answer

Ha! Cool comparison...one of my all time fav's from the 80's is Joe Jacksons tune "I'm The Man"...thanks man, appreciate it!

Did some tweaking on this today...tried to really dry out the lead vocal...clean up the guitars , and bring the drums to a better place in the mix.....
