Yeah I been drinkin, SO!?
How is a de-esser different than a one-band eq? It seems like all it does is take out (to a specified degree) a specific frequency. I'm just starting to try one (it came with my DAW), but so far I can't tell the difference. Thanks for your help.
 
A de-esser is a *dynamics* control for a specific frequency - Not an EQ.
 
What these guys said;) It is also very similar to a singular narrow dynamic EQ which means it is a combination of both compressor and EQ, but does not affect the signal until the threshold AND frequency requirements are met.
