When looking at the Waveforms some waveforms has DC offsets
where does this DC offsets come from?

What are some ways of getting DC offsets in the Waveform or recording
DAW or protools?

How do i get DC offset?

What is DC offset?

walters - ive explained this before several times. its a long explain.
please search under my name for dc offset.
essentially if you get big dc offsets - this indicates possibly a problem with your sound card set up.
typically on board inexpensive sound chips or consumer sound cards exhibit this behaviour.
what sound card are you using ?
in summary dc offset is dc riding on the AC audio waveform.
various editors will correct it for you. peace

You never told me about DC offset when? where?

So the only way to get DC offset is by a Cheap I/O card?

What other ways of getting DC offset into the DAW?

Is 1volt DC offset good or bad

Is 2 volt DC offset good or bad

what is good DC offset and what is Bad DC offset?

walters.
what i meant to say is ive covered this point before on here in other posts.
you might want to google for dc offset also.
lots of info on the net.
do you have a way of measuring dc offset ?
if not - but this will only work on 16 bit files.
you can google for cool edit 96.
this software has a dc offset checker in it.
hope this helps.
yes - normally cheaper sound cards exhibit this.

for cool edit 96 this software has a dc offset checker in it.

Thanks

How do i erase DC offset? or get rid of DC offset voltages?

Do i need a Digital Softwave Volt meter to measuse DC offset?

cool edit (and many other audio editors) will reduce the dc offset for you.
hitsquad.com has a list of audio editors you can demo.
NOTE...all the info i'm giving you relates to pc only.
if your on a mac youll need to use a mac audio editor.peace.

This outta be good. If you guys don't mind I'm gonna pull up a chair and watch it unfold. I was just about to leave for vacation but this is gonna be too good to miss.

Carry on.

Come on walters, you're up.

Forget it. I know what his next question will be-

How about for beegee offset on DAW? Can I get this for auto beegee offset, you know, for to auto the offset into the beegee for DAW?.!

Cool Edit 96! wally, wally, wally?

ez...
your obviously enjoying this one ....
was just trying to help him.

Sorry, manning, but your chain is being yanked. "walters" is the alter ego of one of the children who take advantage of the lack of parental guidance on this board and use it to get cheap laughs and waste other people's valuable time.

The sad part is that this child is now 21 years old, an adult in any country by any standard, and he still gets his nuts off by acting like a 10 year old.

DC offset

Some sound cards record with a slight DC offset, in which direct current is introduced into the signal, causing the center of the waveform to be offset from the zero point (the center line in the waveform display). DC offset can cause a click or pop at the beginning and end of a file. To compensate for DC Offset, Adjust the DC Bias by altering the setting provided by the Amplify command in your cool edit programme.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.....

It was my 21st birthday the other day ... I hope we're not suffering from a misunderstanding here ...

Walters is a genius, a legend and a total pain in the neck.

noisedude..
a belated happy 21.

hope you got some nice studio gear for presents !

Hiya Manning,

I bought a bunch of mics a couple of weeks back, so my birthday money will go to something more important ... like towards a new acoustic, or maybe even something non-musical!!!

Me and Southside Glen had a run-in of my own making a couple of weeks ago, but I hope he doesn't think I'm Walters. I only use my powers for good! (basically I signed up as a fake sonusman and posted an awesome old article of his on mixing that had been removed at his request when he was banned)

Noise,

I thought I had read some stuff in one of your own posts back when we had our little lover's spat that had you basically admitting that you were "walters". Perhaps I misunderstood that entry (we had a lot of misunderstandings for that 48 hours or so :p ); if so than I apologize here and now for the misunderstanding and the implication.

I stand my my belief, however, that "walters" is a confabulation by someone, whether they be a member or a troll, grabbing "Recording 210" buzzwords and concepts, running them through 12 levels of computer translation back and forth between English and Tibetan (or maybe it's just a single level of blended malt whiskey), and posting them here for the sole purpose of giggling at their keyboards like Bevis and Buthead on a park bench do at the word "fart."

I'm not against anybody having a sense of humor around here - I have made my share of silly posts myself. But when it comes to something like Manning1's spending the time to try and honestly answer walter's nonsense and getting sucked into an Internet version of the children's show "Punk'd", I think that borders on intellectual vandalism and won't be afraid to let anybody know that.

So anyway, noise, happy b'day! Hope you did get your you-know-whats off for the big 21 in one way or another ;)

[End of misunderstanding.]

Does Microphones have DC offset?

Does Preamps have DC offset on the output?

Does Sound Cards have DC offset on the output?

Does compressors have DC offset on the output?

Does the recorder have DC offset?
