dbx mini pre as a bass preamp DI

It is very clean.I like how it sounds.
It takes Hi-z inputs and works as a DI.
So any inputs on keepin it as my main Bass DI??

If you like the way it sounds.............yes
If you do not like the way it sounds........no

Sure there are better bass di's but sometimes we need to make do with what we have.

Check out the SansAmp DI if you are interested in another one.

Good luck

Thanks
I am aware of the SansAmp and other DIs.
I was just wondering if somebody else uses the DBX mini pre fot a DI.

I haven't used the DBX mini pre, but I use the ART Tube MP (similar in design to the DBX mini pre) all the time as a bass direct box with excellent results. If it works for you, go for it! The secret to getting good results with the ART Tube MP is not to overdrive the input gain stage... just make the LED flash red for a fraction of a second on the peaks, not all the time (most of the time it should be green), then bring up the output gain so that it matches what your recorder wants to see, level-wise. ;)
