I've been looking at the dbx 386 pre-amp and here's my question:

It has SPDIF outs on each channel.
I have a stereo SPDIF input on my MOTU 2408.
Can I run each channel of the 386 into one on the stereo ( one channel to the L the other to the R ) S/PDIF inputs on my 2408 ( thus giving me two more "live" inputs in addition to my 8 analog ins.
Does this make sense?
I have very little experience with S/PDIF.
HELP!!!!!

thanks,
Michael

S/PDIF output is stereo. There is only one jack for output.
Both the left and right channels are sent in interleaved fashion. Same for the input on the MOTU. If you have two S/PDIF input jacks on the MOTU I'd guess they're two pairs that are independent; i.e. 4 channels of input.
What does the manual say?

drstawl,

Well, according to the MOTU web page, the 2408 has 2 S/PDF inputs, so I'm assuming I can make this work ( I need to look on my 2408 when I get to the studio tonight ), and the outputs on the 386 are RCA S/PDIF ( same as the MOTU ). I'll look tonight and get back to you. Thanks so much for your help.

Michael
