Hey guys just want some input on this cover i did of love is gone, what do you think..

i think the fact that hes had experience in the music business since 1984 might have something to do with it lol...

your mix isnt bad..the rap bits good but the singings pitchy...maybe autotune it more...sample sound fine but the need more work with layering

a lot of the time people like Guetta use other producers to make their music (they can afford to), I think Sandy Vee produces his, so youre a homerecorder up against a team

Remember everything is layered...you think youre hearing one kick sample, youre prolly hearing three EQ'd for separate frequencies....when you think you are hearing one instrument youre prolly hearing three or four

some of the simplest tunes have 60+ tracks...thats what youre up against, dont think you cant get decent results but also dont think youre going to compete in a matter of months

well the music is just the official instrumental i ripped from youtube lol, just wanted a comment on the vocals and what i need to do to make it better in terms of reverb and compression and all that, but its not that pitchy is it, i melodyned it too ... but whats weird so like one instrument can acutally be on four tracks???

well that shuts me up lol...it doesnt sound as good as an instrumental because of youtube, it compresses it, then you are ripping it and loosing even more quality (its not that bad though...a multiband exciter or some EQing would help it sparkle a bit)

the vocals arent that pitchy...but you can hear small parts, especially when they go a little higher...Im not 100% sure about melodyne but does it have a mix level for correction? if so just try it a little more...also try to upload your mixes to soundcloud or dropbox...youtube broadcasts at a much lower quality than these sites so its hard to be detailed

oh ok thanks for the info, ok but besides the pitchiness how are the vocals?

I like your vocals, Robbie.

I don't feel I can constructively comment on the quality of the recording, reverb and compression as I don't have an internet connection in my studio so I am listening to the compressed low quality YouTube audio through my home computer speakers.

I listened to David Guetta's version and one thought did occur to me: he sounds more comfortable with the high notes. To me, you were nearing the top of your range and some notes were losing their strength,. Where these occur you are (or should be) leaping for strong high notes, soaring. I am by no means an expert but that is what I was hearing. How did you feel? Would it be easier and more powerful at the top end if you played your backing track a few semitones lower?

well it was ok i did actually want to lower it but then i said fuk it, but i have a question, when i sing live accapella i dont think i sound like i have a cold or nassally, if you go watch the rolling in the deep accapella video, but in my recordings i kind of do, so how can i fix this... is it the eq?? this is wat i do add 4 at 100 hz at 1 k i cut 5 at 3k to 5 k i add like 4 - 5 and then at 16 k i add a bit like 3-4... any suggestions ??

oh and dunt they say that sometimes a mic can be nasally?? could it be that
