Anyone know what Dave Matthews uses to mic guitars? Or any info on the recording techniques for any of his albums?

You have that much info?

I'm a much bigger fan of the early stuff...which I think is lilly white. I love the sounds of Under the Table Dreaming and Crash as well as the Lilly White Sessions...again, I like the Lilly White Sessions Better album more than Busted Stuff. Busted Stuff just sounds too damn polished.

No, I dont know all that info, just helps when searching if you narrow down what you are looking for. I will see what I can find, I am a huge dmb fan also.

Waiting on an e-mail reply from bearsville studios on the mics Dave used to record acoustic guitar on both crash and under the table. Will let you know.

That's very cool that you found that out.

Do you find that most studios are willing to divulge information about which mics they used here, there, etc?

I would think there'd be a lot of info on a band like this, but I can't seem to find much out there.

They use the exact same mics and setup for studio as their stage? I thought Dave plays the acoustic through a wireless do box on stage? As for the studios reply, it depends on the person answering e-mails, and weither they are busy. I have gotten studio people's responses that were overly helpful in aswering my questions. But, to no avail, I have not heard back from bearsville.

I think his question was about the mic used on the acoustic guitar. Both lists show that Dave uses the xlr on the acoustic 12 and 6 string on stage. I am pretty sure that xlr is not a mic brand, it is a do box. The site lists that they use this on stage and in recording because they record and archive every show that they perform. As far as Dave's mic on the acoustic guitar in the studio, that is another issue alltogether. Maybe Bearsville will answer? I dunno.
