Hi- I've got a Tascam DA-20 MKII Dat machine. I'm recording sounds from an external sound source (Kurzweil R2500) which is receiving MIDI info generated by DP on my iMac Intel. OK, so far. But my ultimate goal is to have these sounds (instrumental compositions) back on my iMac in an MP3 format. My first thought was to get an audio interface (M-audio or Tascam), something with just a few imputs, route the audio signal from the Dat to this interface and then into my computer. However, there is one digital "in" and one digital "out" on the back of the Dat. Could I get a coxial cable that would go from the digital "out" of the Dat directly into the USB or Firewire port on the iMac? If you're ROTFLMAO at this point, I appologize. I'm really a musician and not a tech-minded person. Also, I know I've got some "virtual sounds" on the iMac via Finale (notation), but I'm under the gun to come up with about 30 MIDI sequences for large ensembles and thought this was the fastest way. I'm not too proficient on Finale and, being a keyboard player, a bit better on DP.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...
