Chris,
Looks like he even does some waffling here - says the capsule comes from China, and if it's the same factory (797?) it's the same capsule. He then admits that the "Head" (capsule assembly?) is the same but then turns right around and says "Our capsule (the heart of any mic) simply sounds better!"
That comment from Peter Freedman is about 2 yrs old, but like other things he said around that time it answers, but doesn't answer all the questions and if you were to have spoken to staff at Rode you were likely to get an even more ambiguous or evasive reply.
I have to disagree................if you have ever spoken to Rode and tried to get a straight answer out of them regarding the origins of their mic components you wouldn't make that statement.
It was actually Peter who told me that. Maybe the other people who work for the company aren't as straightforward.

I don't think he said it was the same factory...797 aren't the only ones in the game...but even if they are, that doesn't necessarily mean that the capsules are the same. I imagine that Røde QC's their capsules more carefully than Behringer (do they QC them at all?). I think he actually said the head was different..."People see the case, which besides the head is the same as the NT2"...
Hi , I just got the answer from a man who is familiar with 797 , about the capsule . He say Rode NT2's capsule is made by 797 . But you know , Rode NT2 has been discontinued for years .
And Rode NT3 , Rode NT1000's capsule are all made by 797 .
The NT2's actually only been discontinued for a few months. At least, it was available up until a few months ago...who knows how long ago production ceased...
