I need some help with this stupid thing. I've been working on this mix for a long time now, and SOMETHING is just out of place. I can't figure it out.

If you have a fast connection and really want to help then please download:

Ed, maybe you can help me...I tried cutting the guitars at 400Hz like you suggested and that didn't help. Any more ideas?

Hey that's pretty cool. Good stuff. As for the mix, I think it sounds good now. I'm not sure exactly what you wanted comment on. So here goes...

- Maybe the guitars could come down just a little bit, with a touch longer reverb on them, with the reverb happening a little heavier in the right channel. Seems to have a small room sound, for this type of stuff I sort imagine it in a larger venue.

- The trumpet could be panned a little more to the right.

- The Bass could come down a notch, maybe cut some of the low end.

- The cymbals are panned to heavy left right. What perspective are you going for on the kit, stage view or player view. The ride could go more to left or right.

None-mix related - the ride needs more style, subtle variations - touch of 3/4 swing here and there. I realize this is tough with a machine :)

Anyway, my take on it. Overall I think it sounds damn good.

the "chink" guitar is too hot in the mix- interferes with the snare drum

Other than that, it sounds like The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, which is a big fuckin compliment!

Gosh gee, everything sounded just super in the mix to me....was that an NT1 you used on the trumpet?...it really picked up every nuance....the normalization was really spot on too....and that bass!!!!...did you use a bass pod to get that full yet saucy sound?...oh my, the bar is even higher now for all of us.....gibs

cripes.........

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry. This was just a joke kinda. I was making my girlfriend laugh with my sweet ass trombone playing.

Both she and ametth kinda dared me to post it as a joke. And it was kind of an experiment to see if anyone would say, "God damnit, that trombone fucking sucks!" I really didn't expect people to think i was serious.

I do agree with your suggestions for the rest of the mix though....

The background music was recorded a while back to show somebody in the guitar forum what the POD can do without any help. Originally there was a lead guitar....I might redo it because I do like this mix for what it is. The drums are fake as hell of course. I'm pretty sure the bass was done with the POD on the clean channel. The backing guitars were probably the Black Panel model. Litterally I took no time screwing around...I just plugged in and started playing. Ain't the POD great? (I like my Sansamp Bass Driver better for the bass though)

And the trombone you ask? How did I capture that sweet baby? First I dug it out of my garage. Second, I used an SM57 about three inches in front of the bell. Third, I plugged that SM57 into an ART Tube MP. That's it :)

WHAT? You guys don't like The Bonzo Dog band!?

I LOVED that trombone!

Not bad at all for diggin' it out of yer garage.
I also fell for the trumpet label.
I also thought it sounded out there and stoned for a lead line. Take that descriptively, even though I gave it more shrift on that basis alone.

Oh great...I should have used italics to make my sarcasm more obvious, I guess....I thought the song was a good joke, but I was also disappointed that it wasn't a killer new tune by Slackmaster2K....yeah, yeah, I know, I haven't posted anything new in a long time either...maybe this one could be a new one for you though...just lose the trumpet-bone and for godssakes turn down the bass and check the other volume levels.....gibs:D

Ha ha shit....

I knew this was stupid. I'm going to go hide.

You guys have no vitreous humour- Listen to "Tubas in the Moonlight" by the Bonzos.

Or anything by Roger Ruskin Spear.

vitreous: adj.: glassy; pertaining to, consisting of, or like glass

They don't have glassy humor?

Is that a sears poncho?
