Hi,

Will I damage either microphone if I plug say a single Behringer C2 into line 1 and say a CAD177 into line two and record on both tracks at the same time? Or should I only ever use the C2 with its twin?

I'm worried I might damage circuits or something because they require different needs.

thanks

Huh?

It should be fine. Just don't plug/unplug either mic while the phantom power is turned on.

What will that do if I do that?

Possibly nothing, but you could fry the mic. It's always a good idea to turn off the phantom power before connecting or disconnecting a microphone from the preamp. Sudden changes in voltage could damage the mic.

If I had a mic plugged into input 1 and a mic plugged into input 2, then unplugged input 2 and replaced it with another mike with the power all on, could I fry both mics?

man i know very little about mics...but i fucking love your name! Monkey Allen! Ooo oo! (Gareth scampers across the office floor)

Plugging something into or out of one channel has no effect on anything plugged into other channels, unless there is something seriously wrong with your mixer.

But yes, it is a good habit to get into not having phantom power on a particular channel when you plug or unplug a mic (into that same channel). Most of the time you will probably get away with it, but no sense taking that chance.

That's exactly it! Love that!

And yeah...back to microphones...I think I might have done a bad, bad thing. I got to test it this morning. Fingers crossed

edit: All is good. Was worried for a while there.
