I just picked up a used DAK Electret ECM-2001 small condenser mic. I notice a "sizzle" when I record with it - like a slight distortion on every note - even when my levels are really low. Is this typical of a small condenser, or do I just have a lousy mic?

Thanks for any advice!

sounds like low voltage on the capsule. Since it's an electret, it might be bad. Could be something else tho.

It's kind of funny reading this post, because, most of the time, a little high end "sizzle" is a good thing. I know he's not talking about what most people mean when they say sizzle.
