I know that you can hook up an ADAT to your computer to get another 8 tracks. Does anyone know if and how you would do that with a DA 38. I'd love to get more tracks!!
Thanks for any help you can give me.

A MOTU 2408 has TDIF inputs and outputs. You can find them used on Ebay and I believe the price is dropping on new units too.

Thanks for the simple answer. I did find one explanation in a thread on the Tascam site that sounded like a phone book being read. If anyone else is looking to do something like this MOTU has a good web site explaing how it works. motu.com

You need a Tascam MMC-38 box to sync your DA-38 to your PC...and it works better with Logic than Cubase.

Ahem... if I may get in here:

I have a relevant, though newbi-er question:

A friend is going to loan me a DA-38 to record with live at a gig. I'll run direct-outs from the house board, no problem.

But- I am reading that I need a device to hook up between my PC and this DA-38 to get the tracks into the PC. This is a T-DIF interface?

I can't just run fom the DA-38 into the inputs on my EWS88MT Terratec break-out box? Right, I know it's better to avoid D/A>A/D conversion- but this is it, the T-DIF device then?

I'm sorry, I know nothing of the DA-38, and I'm off to go to Google.com right now to see if I can see one. But I'm posting this to see if I can get a bit here- I'm using it tomorrow night...

Thanks for your patience, and your time.
