As I posted in another forum, I'm a bit fed up with the lack of a cue-control/monitor management unit that suits my needs. So I was thinking of building one. Here's my current set up:
Firepod:
Outputs 1-2 - Main Mix
Outputs 3-4 - Submix 1
Outputs 5-6 - Submix 2
And here's what I'm trying to route everything to.
M-Audio BX5a Monitors - Main Mix (Main Out)
Subwoofer - Main Mix (Possibly with a High Cut?)
Behringer 4-Channel Rackmount HP Amp - Main Mix (Cue)
Rolls Stereo 4-Channel HP Amp - Submix 1
Rolls Stereo 4 Channel HP Amp - Submix 2
Also, I'd like a 4th input for RCA connection, so I can hook up my iPod when I want. This will route to all 4 inputs, but I'd like to have an on/off switch for it, so there's no buzzing if nothing's plugged in.
Since this is cue mgmt too, I'd like to throw in a talkback mic, which will shoot to the Cue, Submix 1, and Submix 2. I'd like to put an unlatched button on it for quick talkbacks AND a latched button just incase, but it's not super important to me. I guess dimming while active would be a good idea.
Also, on the Main Out, I'd like to have a Mute, Dim, and Solo button, as well as Volume control. The Main Out would also drive two VU Meters, one for left and one for right.
Also, if I'm not already in neck deep, I'd like to put a headphone amp on it if possible, even though I have a cue out, just cause my cue amp isn't very good. This will take feed from the Main Out.
OK, now with all that said, I'm going to make a bold statement here. I need some help!!! I can craft and solder until the cows come home, but I really don't know enough about electronics to know how to set this up. Could someone possibly help me with a schematics for this thing? I figure it's mostly going to just be a few caps and resistors, plus an op amp for the headphone out, since most if it's just running signals from one jack to another and mixing some signals together before getting there. I put together the following diagram to display the signal flow of everything I'm looking for:
Now that (hopefully) you have a good idea of what I'm going for, can anyone help me put this thing together? I figure it might even be worth it to slap it up on a breadboard like this one, and the just house it in a project box! I'd really be appreciative, and I figure any real DIY enthusiast would enjoy the challenge of taking my signal flow and turning it into a schematic (and helping out a n00b like me
). Besides, this could be my first real leap into electronics DIY, which could eventually lead to ME helping some poor n00b some day! Help my dream become a reality!!!
