Pinky

and The Brain...
Been feeling a bit more inspired, and still looking for that acoustic sound... this one deviates from everything I've recorded in the past 2 years (which means more of you will like than normal :p ).

Enjoy! (thanks in advance for any and all feedback)

Pinky,

I'm getting a real Neil Young vibe from this tune and I like Neil!

I wish there was some vocals to go along with this as that would carry it better then as it is now, an instrumental.

There is a massive volume gain when the extra parts kick in and this is a nice touch but it might be too dramatic a difference for some listeners. Again with vocals, this might work as is too.

The drums near the end of the track sounded a bit raunchy and loose but they added a layer and that much was good.

Are the lyrics and vocals in the works?

Very nice piece so far!

Cheers! :)

This is very nice guitar work, thank you for sharing your skills and longing here, I hear emotional inspiration in this.

At 00:37, the break, the volume increases noticeably. There is an excellent opportuinity for cello to solo here very nicely ...

I've let this run several times and jammed with this piece of music you are sharing with us on cello and I would like to record that in collaboration.

My collaboration list is full up and I've probably extended myself to far and will probably end up doing things in a politically incorrect order ... BUT ...

Please preserve the resource tracks for this mix, as I would like to get a higher quality MP3 from you to write scratch tracks to if you are going to invest more time in this mix. And there is plenty of room for violin and viola also.

A poster recently posted something a bit like this, 'Jim Soloway' and I urge you to listen to it. I'ts either on the first or second page, and I'm going to write a string trio, or string arrangment with real violin, viola and cello for Jim's guitar work.

I'd like to do sort of the same for this.

Ideally, the section where the volume increases noticeably, it needs to be closer in volume to the other sections. As I track parts to this, I would need those volumes to match more closely, you could mix it however you wanted later.

Good stuff man, nice chops here. Just some relatively nice, clean guitar playing ... I like !

Ghost -- Afraid I'm not currently working with any vocalists (I'm a writer so lyrics are never an issue, could scratch some down in minutes if needed). Thanks for the listen, I may need to remix it slightly, but the soft parts are intended to be soft/dramatic... may just ease that contrast a bit.

studioviols -- I'd be delighted if you added some strings :). I can either send a CD of the cakewalk masters or zip them on my FTP (which have the muted drums so you/I can easily keep time). Let me know when things open up (I have the originals backed up and still on my harddrive, so it won't take long to make them available).

This was definitely an inspired piece, I've been noodling for the past 3-4 days coming up with what worked rhythmically. I'm not a flash lead player and have been struggling with coming up with decent bass lines that didn't intrude on the songs lately. I keep plugging away hoping to find my musical mantra :p.

I adjusted the volume between sections slightly (only disadvantage is the 'hiss' is a tad louder). Remix has been uploaded in the original's place.

I just didn't liked the harmonies that came in at 2:03 -- the rest was great!

Thanks (I think :D). You've always had something good to share about my posts, appreciate your listen :).

Harmonies I assume you mean the lead harmony, which I'm never really pleased with... I actually recorded lead through the whole song but because it was recorded so dirty (too much hiss) I couldn't keep it in the softer sections (and of course that's where the best licks were). I got too lazy to bother re-recording those parts as I started to like the minimalist verses more and more as I was mixing.

I'm NOT at all a lead player, I usually have my friend Lew lay those tracks. maybe I'll have him try something this weekend...

Come to think of it, I'm not much of a guitar player either, I just like to get the idea down and play with the mix.

Oh Yeah! I can defiitely hear this with some strings. That would be cool. You've got some good ideas in there Pinky. I like the way the song builds and decays. Keep workin on it!
