Cubuse Metronome?

Hi, all

Sometimes when using the metronome (using MIDI, just for the count in, on recording) I end up getting the last bit of the beat recorded by the microphones in the room.

I would have thought that the recording wouldn't start until the last beat?

Is there anything I can do about this?

I've found the metronome in Cubase to be a pain. I don't really trust it. I've been using fruity loops to generate the click track, export it as a wav and then re-import it on a spare track in Nuendo. If the song has a lot of dynamics, I'll manually reduce the gain on the click track during parts of the song that are quiet so that mic's do not pick it up from my headphones. At the end of the song, I do the same thing, manually edit the click track, sometimes a bar before the song ends.

I think the older version demo's, 2.0 (still on their site) allow you to export and save. Not positive though.

Ok, thanks for the response.... I'll figure something out...

At least I'm not the only one...

is your left marker definiltey on the right point? you've got you'r snapping set to a value, instead of off?

ive never had trouble with cubase metronomes. one guess is to adjust your system preroll, it MAY help.not sure though

You could put a bar of silence between the countoff and the 1 of the first measure. Or... you could (if you have a drum sampler-- doesn't Cubase 5 come with the LM-9?) make a one measure pattern with a stick sound on the quarter notes for the first 3 beats, then leave the fourth beat empty (assuming the song is in 4/4). Something along those lines would give you enough blank space before the recording kicks in, yet you would have a sense of the tempo. Good luck!
