Do you think my Celeron 400 Mhz will have enough juice to power VST 5.0 if I up the RAM to 128? I'm thinking of buying but don't want to shell out for a new P.C. I know the system requirements are listed at PIII 450, but is this a true requirement?

I ran it OK on a celeron 500, but I couldn't say for certain on a 400. If you can, you might download the demo and try it out before dropping the cash on the full version. Depending on your harddrive, you'll probably get 12 - 15 tracks or so, but you'll max out the processor quickly as you add plugins.

Are you getting a good price on that version of VST 5.0? If you are paying full price, I might suggest that you save a little more money, buy a less expensive program like n-track, and invest in a used computer with more power. 400mhz is going to feel somewhat limiting after a little while. Investing in the hardware will offer more of a return to you than investing in software.

Just my .02. :) 400 mhz is still a pretty good machine, but digital audio maxs out a computer FAST.

Take care,
Chris
