Being a user of Cubase (not a pro, but I have a working relationship with), I can now understand more clearly how tough it must be for a newbie to any DAW to be completely lost! I tried to help out a friend who purchased PT 8 thinking that; 'they all do the same thing in the end, I'm sure I could help'.
WRONG!!
I never felt so lost, as if I were in a foreign country, speaking a third language that nobody spoke. The simple task of editing out a 'pop' eluded me long enough to give up and admit that I can't help him without learning the software myself.
I have tried Reaper, and though it was foreign, I seemed to have an understandable work-flow, unlike this version of Protools that left me saying WT*.
I feel when searching for a DAW, you must try each one and see how it feels for you. We are all wired differently, and so is software.
I can wipe my butt 8 ways with Cubase, I can't find the toilet on Protools....Yet...
Set up a date with a few DAWymes and see which one puts out on the first date. In recording software, I think the 'easy' girl will be the one for you.
Just my opinion,
Jimmy
