Hi,
My friend, new to MIDI, has the following equipment:
Roland A30 controller keyboard
Computer with Windows 7 (64bit) running Cubase SX
A Midisport 2x2 interface
Korg Micro-X synth
Yamaha RT123 drum machine

All she wants is a simple set up where she can use the A30 to play the sounds of the Micro-X and trigger the drum machine from the computer at the same time via the A30s Midi Thru.

Can anyone suggest how we would set everything up (MIDI cabling and what we would have to set up on the A30 so that it just plays the Micro-X sounds and nothing else? I know the A30 has advanced features for storing sounds and splitting the keyboard but at the moment she doesn't want any of that. She's new to MIDI so just wants it to play the sounds of the Micro-X and nothing else!

Hope someone out there can help! thanks, Rob

you might want to post this up in the cubase section where all the cubase experts hang.

The short answer is to connect the A30 via USB to the computer, then connect another USB cable to the Micro X for the midi input. Then route the A30 to a track as the master and use Cubase's midi out functions to designate the Micro X as the playback device.
