Is it possible to load into Pro Tools a project that has been recorded using Cubase SX 2?? If so, how? is there any converter?

The thing is, me and my band will start recording our album using Cubase SX 2, but it will be mixed by somebody in a big studio in another city and he'll want to use Pro Tools for sure. I don't even know if he even has Cubase... obviously it would be better for us to get Pro Tools if not for the $$$ problem and the fact that I've never used and it wouldn't be smart to practice Pro Tools with our album recording.

Thanx

Two ways:

1. You can save the files as OMF, and hope that the Pro Tools user has a program called DigiTranslator, which converts OMF files to a Pro Tools session.

2. You can start ALL the tracks at the same time with no edits. Then it's just a matter of lining them up in Pro Tools.

Yeah option 2 is easily done. Just give the mixer all the seperate tracks as .wav and you cant go wrong really.

I don't use Cubase, but there should be a function that lets you consolidate each track into a contiguous .wav file that starts from 0sec. I.E. if your track is empty until 2:30 when an overdub comes in, consolidating makes a .wav file that starts at 0:00, is silent until 2:30, then ends where the other file ends. This makes lining up files much easier (like what the guys who put up the Public Mix Contests do)

Also, if it's a pro studio, they should have digitranslator.

Use the "Bounce" feature in Cubase to do what is mentioned above.

Also not all pro studios use Digitranslater. We surely will not authorize it. I want to get rid of that annoying ass pop up when sparking up the room.

then get rid of it
On Windows, go to Add/Remove Programs, select Digidesign Pro Tools and click the Add/Remove button. Then select Modify. Scroll through the list and uncheck DigiTranslator and proceed with uninstalling it.

On Mac, delete the OMF.dll file from your Pro Tools folder by dragging it to the trash.

Thank you much.

I think I'll go with option 2, even though I'll try to export everything in OMF format just in case the guy likes it better that way.

Thank you everyone
