I have a few questions regarding Cubase SE. I am looking for tutorials for someone who is new to cubase. Every book or dvd that I have found says that it is for Cubase SX. How similar are these two programs? Are they similar enough that SE users should be using SX information?

Thanks,
BM

I think you'd be pretty safe purchasing a SX book. If I'm not mistaken SE throttles back the number of Audio tracks you can have, a smaller number of multiple use effects (at the same time) etc.

If you go to the Cubase site they outline what the differences are. Sorry but I'm too lazy to look for the page myself. And if it works out and you decide to upgrade to SX you'll already have the book?

I know the Cubase SX manual is the same as the Cubase SL manual (not sure about SE), it just points out here and there what things are SX only, but as Easto mentioned, it's mostly a max limit on things like inserts and audio tracks. Wouldn't worry too much about it. The manual has been very helpfull to me since SX 1 and since SX 2 everything is build up off of the same engine with the same look a feel.

Are there any specific guides/tutorials/manuals that you would recommend?

THanks,
BM

There's several out there titled "Cubase SX Power", "Cubase SX2 Power" etc. Athough I already have a pretty good understanding of the program I thought that these books were well written and easy to understand/follow. You can find them at any of the major booksellers.
