Ok, My question is...Why do firepod user's have a mixer and a firepod??..i know there is a digital mixer on the cubase le, so why do some firepod users have a mixer?..because, it makes me wonder if i should get a mixer..I have a firepod. should I buy a mixer and plug it into my firepod?..please help me with this question...

Things like this are totally up to the user, some use a mixer cause they dont have enough mic pre's, some have them because they dont want to do their mixdown in the box and want analog summing. If the 8 mic pre's you have are enough then I would say that you dont need a mixer. I have a nice console that I dont use that much anymore because I have a Firestudio and a Digimax FS.

Basically its your call! ;)

Ok, Thanks for the Reply, Did you try use a mixer and your firestudio?..if not, then Can someone tell me who has a firepod and a mixer 2gether, Why do you do it?..Maybe, It's something i should try.but before I Do, i want to hear from someone who does work like that..Maybe i Should Go rent a mixer and plug it in my firepod..just to see what advantages it has, anyone know what kinda of mixer I should try and rent?.ALL KINDS OF MIXERS at the Rental Department, So don't afraid to shout out..Thanks a Million Guys!.

I don't have a Firepod but I have a Firebox and the reason I use a mixer is so I have more preamps. If I had a Firepod I might not bother with a mixer.
The other advantage of having a mixer is to do a little EQing on the way in and to take advantage of inserts.
In my case I also use my mixer in between the Firebox and my monitors. That way I can control the volume and run other stuff like my Ipod.

As far as I can tell, the pres on the Firebox/Firepod are pretty decent so you may not see much improvement over the preamps on a mid level mixer.

HMMM???...you guys make awsome points!..now I just to think bout it..lol..Well I'm just going to rent a mixer for a month and get the feel of a mixer..and see if i'm happy working with a mixer..thanks guys!

Also some firepod users will have digital mixers to automate fades with their fingertips, and such. It's a lot more comfortable, and you don't have to keep on trying to get the right fade with your mouse.

1202 vlz pro

I have my band's mackie in my studio. 5 piece jazz + vox. I will be using the mixer to make a good headphone mix w/reverb on the voice (our singer sings better with the reverb on) in front of a headphone amp (that I still need to buy). mics/lines->firepod->1202 mixer->headphone amp

That way I can get reverb in the vocals and record the electric guitar and stage piano direct. Only have to isolate the double bass, the voice, and drums.

I can also mix down to 1/2" reel to reel or whatever.

In the long run, I may buy my own 1602/ 1604 and leave the mixer permanently set up in front of the firepod and just have everything hooked up to it, so I can just get in there and be recording without messing w/cables and such first.
