Hello Learned People,

I have a question re the abovementioned. I did see another thread on the same topic but I'm afraid I couldn't really understand it.

I am pretty much a beginner user of Cubase, so if you can help me, I really need the most basic of directions.

I can record midi and audio files and assign halion one - have managed to make all those connections without too much hassle. My struggle is with VST instruments. So my questions are as follows...

1. There is no 'VST instruments' (F11) in my Device menu. Why? Is it because I have the LE?

2. I wish to build an instrument library myself and have installed Short Circuit for this purpose. These sounds will include samples from other sources as well as sounds I record myself using other instruments.

I am able to move the Short Circuit into my VST2 file, as per the instructions I found on Youtube re installing vst instruments in Cubase...

BUT... inevitably, the process involves having a VST instruments option in the Device Menu, which I do not have (see Point 1!).

So MY MAIN QUESTION IS: Is there another process I can use that will allow me to design and store my own instruments for use in Cubase 5LE?

A thousand thank yous for any help you can offer. L will be your friend forever. I am lost in a sea of confusion.

Hello Jen,

The Cubase LE family does not include a VST Instrument Rack (F11).
But that does not mean that you can not use other VSTs or VSTi beside from HALionONE, you will have to load them into an instrument track.

If you want to have an Instrument Rack you will have to upgrade to Cubase Elements 7

Best regards,
GN
