Cubase LE 5 crashing when I use DSK Brass

Hi there,

I'm trying to use "DSK Brass" (free Brass VSTi) with Cubase LE 5. I try to use three instaces of this plugin (Trumpet, Saxophone, Trombone) on three Instrument tracks.
But Cubase LE5 crashes almost instantly when I hit the play button. Somestimes the audio HW locks up, sometimes Cubase LE5 crashes and ends itself, sometimes the whole PC hangs and I a have to press the Power button of the PC 4 seconds to switch off and start the PC aigin again.
Seems to be a litte bit better when I use only one instance of DSK Brass.

Does anyone have the same problems ? Is this how free VSTs "work" ?
Any hints on what I can do to improve or to make it stables are highly appreciated.

Thanks

It could be an issue with the 'free' VSTi. It could also be more than your computer can handle, or how well you have it setup. Or any number of things can cause crashes. I would be wary of 'free' VSTi's. Many are great, but there are always some with issues in how they are written. And not necessarily bad on all DAW's.

It may be the issue that Jimmy is describing, but I find it odd that they demo it in cubase and you are having issue with it.

Sorry I have no suggestions on how to fix it. Free plugins can be great or they can be a flop.

Hi everyone,

thanks for the replies.
After my post I invested one more hour to figure out if I can make DSK Brass work on my setup but always the same behaviour: Crashes Cubase LE5 or my PC almost instantly when I tray to playback :-)
So I gave up on DSK Brass and finally purchased "Chris Hein Horns compact" VSTi.
This is working stable (also with three or more instruments instantiated) and has some fantastic Trumpet, Trombone and Sax Instruments.

Thanks again for the replies
