Cubase help

I'm running cubase se 1.07 A With guitar rig 2 w/ rig kontrol 2. GR2 works perfect in standalone, but when I open an audio file in cubase I get noting but a loud hiss and no notes are audable. As far as I know all the drivers are up to date, and GR2 respondeds to rig kontrol pedal movements.
Since Gr2 runs perfect by itself the problem has to be in cubase.

any suggestions??? and is this older version of cubase even compatable with GR2 or am I going to have to upgrade??

any help would be greatly appreciated

by the way this is all being done on a mac powerbook g4 768ram

I decided to install a friends copy of logic express 7.1 and I have the same problem there as I have in cubase, heavy static!!! and when I switn to stereo the right level is in the red but the left level is normal and respond to string plucks from my guitar.

any sugestions???

Have you checked the sample rates? Or are the inputs to Cubase faulted to spdf in 1 and 2? What are you using for actual inputs? the program has to be told this.
