I've become familiar with CakeWalk's Sonar, but a friend recently mentioned Steinberg's Cubase-Nuendo to me. I haven't messed with it yet. How does it compare to Sonar? Better or worse? He said something about a really good mic modeler...

If you search on "sonar" and limit the search to the cubase forum you will probably find the fifty threads from here that have all covered the same question that has been asked before.

What you want depends on what you need. Most of us will tell you that Cubase is better because we use it, then the Sonar users will pop in and tell you Sonar is better. Nuendo is better than both but you pay for it and most don't need Nuendo unless you are scoring for TV, Film, or for a major label.

Mic modeling is simply an effect. You can buy one as a rack unit as well as a program so don't pick your software based just on that.

Good luck and I hope you find what your looking for.
