Hi everyone. I am very new to cubase 5 . I need some help please. I have started by recording a drum track but when i go to play it back the audio cuts in and out . I have a quad core processor so i know my comp is fast enough. I use a steinberg ci 1 audio interface which is set up but i havent even used it yet. I also have an Alesis multimix8 usb set up that i am using for monitering . Any thoughts??

Check your buffers, even a Quad can hiccup if it doesn't like the settings. Are you recording too hot? Peaks should not exceed -12db. Check the obvious like cables, connections. Can you see by the wave form if its recording without the cut-outs?

Disable, anything that might interfere with the USB hub your using. Do you have all the latest up to date drivers for your interfaces?

PDP gives good advice.

One thought, the Alesis does not have it's own dedicated drivers, so you are relying on ASIO4All to adjust your buffer settings correct? If not, at least try that.

Are you recording the drums with the Multimix? Please explain exactly what your setup is and drivers you are using. This is important.

Thanks for everyone's help and thoughts. It was the Alesis. It was interfering with my ci 1 interface. So all in all it was a simple fix. I went into devise setup and choose the driver for the ci1 and it fixed the issue . Again thanks for your help!
