Hi,
first sorry for posting thsis twice i just thought that this would be a better place to pos my quesions.
Im having trouble with my new sound card and getting it to work with cubase.
heres my gear:

Behringer mixer UB1204 fx
Rokit RP5 monitors
Delta 1010 sound card
Cubase SX 2.0

Computer : 2.66 ghz 512 ram 60 gb hard drive

ok now first of all Im having trouble getting a signal on the track...
the graph is very small and I have to turn it up super loud to record and to hear it well and then when I listen to it after it sounds awffull because it was recorded so loudly. what is the problem? Ive checked under device setups and insde the windows sound set up and every things seems fine.. ive also checked the sound card and mixer...
what is wrong im almost certain that it has to do with the cuabse why am I not getting a good signal.

also am I able to run an electric guitar straight int through the mixer or must i have an amp??
one more thing

when I start cubase up I get a message that says : the current asio-mme configuration was never tested blah blah blah... so i click yes and then it fails the test what do i do? i just spent so much fucking money on my studio and nothing seem to work....

thanx gabriel

could you please post your computer configuration iN FULL.
the fact that the driver failed and your getting messages like that is something tell tale.
question - when you look in device manager in control panel - do you have any flags against any devices ?. also - to record guitar there are several ways.
1. using a direct box.
2. using something like a jstation. or similar device.
or
3.mic up an amp.
running a guitar direct into a mixer is not accepted practice unless it has a
circuit acting like a direct box which i dont think the ub has.

Hey Gabriel - You posted this over at the other place, eh ?

You should have mentioned this over there.

You aren't using the proper maudio driver. Click on Devices, Device setup, then VST Multitrack. In ASIO Driver on the right side select ASIO M-Audio (whatever the name is as long as maudio is in the name)

The testing message should never appear unless you are using ASIO Multimedia or ASIO DirectX.

Give that a try and let me know if it worked.

yea that was it

yep thanx dave that fixed that problem... do you have any idea about the other problem recievin the signal?

my computer:
P4 2.66 ghz MSI mother board
nvidia fx 5200 graphics card
512 ram ddr
60 gb 2 hard drives
i hope thats good enough i don t know all the exact brands
thanx

OK cool you got the proper driver installed.

ok now first of all Im having trouble getting a signal on the track...

So these are the steps that I would follow.

First plug you mic, guitar, whatever into the preamp on the mixer. Adjust the gain as loud as you can without peaking.

Then open the maudio mixer display. For the channel that you are plugged into make sure that the volume is adjusted as loud as you can without peaking again.

Lastly, in the input monitor on Cubase verify that you are getting a good signal by watching the meter for that input channel. Again make sure it's not peaking.

Assign that input channel to a track in cubase and record.

Let me know again if this helps at all.

Monitoring

Hi, I have the delta 1010 and I use my aiwa cd player to monitor since the delta 1010 doesn´t have a special plug for headphones. I would really like to use something a bit more convenient and probalbly better sounding than the cd player, what do you folks use for monitoring, is it a preamp or something of that sort, thanks!

thanx dave

yea that helped a bit and i had my tech friend come over and her starightened it out.... thanx for your help
to answer the other guys question I use krk rokit rp5 monitors they cost 300$
umm hope that helps you
