Cubase 5 or Cubase 5 Essential?

Can anyone tell me if the user interface / the way Essential works is basically the same as the full version, just without certain features and less tracks? I've been debating which one to get, but I don't think I need all the features in Cubase 5.

N00b question, I know, but £123 is a lot of money for a pauper like me, heh.:p

I ended up going with Essential when I upgraded. There were some nice to have features, but I really didn't need them and I saved a lot on the upgrade price. Here's a chart....

The differences are pretty slight. But it's all the small stuff that adds up. Like not having polarity buttons on channel strips, or variaudio, or the nice convolution reverb in the full version, or being able to monitor all of your inputs (not just input 1) through the mixer, or the number of tracks and VST instrument slots, etc...

Like I said, it's all the little stuff.

Chili did great by adding the chart. You should have a look and see what you need. There's no reason to buy the best stuff (which probably cost much), if you have nothing to do with the added features.
Good luck anyway.

Aye, I guess I was more worried about the UI being different in some way, but it seems silly to think that it might look different now that I think about it, heh.

I don't think I'll need more than one input at any given time, so I think Essential 5 is the way to go.

Cheers guys!
