I would like to hear from members that have Crown and Otari recorders. I have a Crown CX724 and Otari MX5050 1/2QXD reel-to-reel recorders. Am trying to record over 100 WWII 16" transcriptions (mono) on to tape. Thank You.

Use the Otari. By all accounts, the Crown machines were not particularly good.

I'm not a member that has Crown and Otari, but I have pretty good idea about how to choose a device for a task out of the bank of available devices. To do so: try all the devices and compare the results.

p.s.
What are those "100 WWII 16" transcriptions" ? Sounds interesting

I obtained these recordings from a Jr. College I attended in 1953 from their closed circuit on campus radio station. They are from the "Armed Forces Radio Service" and came from KFQD in San Francisco. Most were recorded in 1944. The recordings are 33-1/3 rpm and last 15 min on each side. Most feature "Big Bands", plus other radio entertainment. I have a REK-O-KUT turntable and 16" transcription tone arm. The cartridge is a Shure M3D Stereo, you can change the stylus from old to modern groves.
