My viewpoint on "Confounding Filth": song just doesn't grab me but it shows talent...vocal is good and in tune (vocal makes me think of band from 80's named Dream Academy...something about the quitar I didn't like, it is sort of thin and too metallic sounding (maybe someone else will make more technical comments on this)...maybe (if you don't already use one) you should record to a metronome or click track for better timing (it seemed have some hesitations in a couple of places in the song)...this is nitpicking but I would probably get rid of any unintended vocal grunts or coughs that are not part of the lyrics (maybe some find this "real" or "earthy"...and (more nitpicking) when I downloaded the song the title information on media player was in Spanish (I just barely scrapped by with a C in Spanish last summer) and I thought for a moment I had downloaded the wrong song, maybe you could put that in English (along side the Spanish) also.

The recording is very "demo'ish".... a lot of sibilance in the vocals, and the guitar is thin and buzzy. There's no depth or sense of space around any of the mix elements at all, and the overall recording sounds boxy and muddy.

Mic placement, mic selection, and the room that you record play a HUGE role in the quality of your recorded sound.

Read as much as you can about recording techinques, then practice them!
