Eternally Striving
This is the first band I've recorded outside of my own. Let me know what you think.

I've been around recording for years but just now have my own equipment. Unfortunately i just got a lot of new equipment since I tracked this but whatever, wish I could've used it ...

What do you think I'm worth/hr in your opinion. I know studios around here that have less quality of recordings for $35/hr. but right now I still can't imagine charging someone 35/hr for me to record them.

I say you could charge 35/40 an hour. It's really not bad. I'd say 25 at lowest, but that is really low. If you don't think 35 is fair, go with 30, as long as you are consitent and can record a variety of music.

What kick mic did you use in this recording?

Sounded fine to me. I glad I listened to it. I have a several pc's in my house and a dedicated recording pc in my studio. My recorded tracks lately sounded tinny on my home pc but sound great in the studio and I have been trying to figure out what the hell it is. You posted song sounds tinny also. I played yours through my home stereo and it sounded fine. I have Klipsch speakers on my personal pc and they have gone to shit. Anyway, I built a studio in my back yard and once I learn alot more of the recording process Im gonna open up to the public. I would think $35 would be more than fair. Maybe lowering a little if the client needs you for an extended period.

Beta 52.

Did you like the kick sound? It's still not quite punchy enough for me but.. I'm perfectionist I guess

Kick sounded punchy on my home stereo. Play it on another piece of equipment and see how it sounds to you. Like I said world of difference going from pc speakers to home system. I figured out when I installed Vista on my personal pc it decided to add a reverb enhancement to my sound card. Thats why stuff played on it sounded real bad. I turned the option off and all is well. Anyway try it on something else. My home system sounds 100 times better than my expensive Klipsch pc speakers. And your track sounded fine on it

Oh yea I forgot. Your idea of a good sounding mix is probably not going to be the same to someone else. I notice drummers really want their kit to be louder than everyone else and the guitarist wants the same. Thats the hardest thing I have to get through to people when I record stuff for them. I tell the drummer, ok if you want more kick than when you play it on your stereo add some bass and mid. See what I am saying find a happy medium that sounds good on all systems (with a little tweeking of the stereo's eq's of course).

This sounds very good, as good as anything I hear on the radio.

$35 an hour would

If possible without pushing any limits, I'd bring the vox up a bit.

Actualy, now that I've listened to the end of it, the vox are fine at the end. They just seem a little soft towards the 1st half of the song

I think you could go in the $30 range. Vocals are a bit dark and need a little help to get unmuddied, But hey if that's what they wanted give it to them.
The question is weather you can give a decently wide variety of bands what they want in a reasonable abount of time ;) They are the ones paying :D

I've gladly paid for crap before..... Because I asked for crap :o

Sounds nice :)

Guitars sound pretty bright to me. Very bright. Bass could pump through a little more. I think the kick sounds pretty weak and the snare sounds pretty good but kind of roomy. I think the vocals sound pretty good. If the band is happy with this, take their money. I think it could be better. Just my 2 cents.
