I've got a track that I've put together and I'd like to get some opinion about it. It's a clip of the instrumental parts of an old Rush tune. I'm looking for opinion about overall sound. It feels like I've done about the most I can with it, and am not sure if there's more to do -- it may just be at the limits of my original tracking. But assuming there is more to do, I'm not sure what would come next. So, a few fresh sets of ears to have listen seems a good idea.
- Level is about -18dbfs and peaks around -12 (I think SoundCloud has normalized it though -- I'm not sure).
- Kick and bass sit together reasonably well.
- Guitar tone seems pretty good, though I think it could probably be improved if I had spent a bit more time getting a better sound to track -- but it's not the worst. I've added about +2db at 1.5kHz to the rhythm guitars, along with some reverb.
- there's some Comp on the toms.
- some EQ cuts on kick and bass, but I think no cuts on snare.
- a ducking delay added to the guitar solo.
But in particular, the rhythm guitar in the left channel during the guitar solo still sounds more buried than I'd like, but I don't know which frequencies to cut from what instruments to allow that a little more space -- I've tried a couple things but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
Any and all criticisms welcome, and thanks for listening.
