i'm hearing this as the last song on a CD full of big epic rock songs... if i heard this song and had to guess what kind of music the rest of disc is... i would guess something like candlebox or pearl jam, but that's only because that's the only place you would hear a voice like that in today's market.
personally, i'm reminded more of saigon kick than anything. and if i heard this song and had to DECIDE what kind of music the rest of the CD would be, i would say the majority of it would be filled with loud dirty mildly blues based guitar riffs and big pounding drums, while at the same time, lyrically deep and self-exploringly poetic... a lot of harmonies too... the voice just seems like it belongs in something bigger and louder... you've got a lot of room to express anger in that voice. but don't get me wrong, you need your slower acoustic numbers too, obviously. you yourself seem to be very comfortable there, and therefore very natural there.
really, i would kill to have someone like you in my corner when i record. in fact... your voice would be perfectly fitted a song that i've written recently. i tried to record it but i'm just not capable of putting the feeling into vocals that i feel this song deserves... if you think you might be interested in vocalizing for someone else's work, let me know (
nuno75@suscom.net ) if you're into it, i'll post it so you can hear it, if not, don't worry, i understand.
but hey, back to the thread! hehehe.. great song, man... i also like the lyrics a lot. particularly: "so you did what you did, build a bridge over it"
only criticism: the guitar(s) seem to be a little heavy on the low mids... i'm getting a thump for every strum and over-all they're not as crisp and clear as they seem like they should be. but hey, that's just me.... you know, opinions and assholes.
good job
