I'll be taking on my first CD project for a demo we are trying to do in a weeks time. Having just learned all these stuff, I need some comments on my work. Could you download sunset from http://www.mp3.com/ragsstudio and let me know what you think of the song, production and all.... I will really appreciate your honest opinion. I take negative feedback too :-) My gear are listed @ http://www.onlinerock.com/musicians/hongteck/

Thanks in advance

Whenever I go to mp3.com to visit an artist page, I try to looksee where thay are from. It is amazing that somebody in Singapore is making music in his/her bedroom and then able to share it with the world. The flipside to this technology is - that it is nowadays so easy for any level of musician to record themselves on a pc - play it back and think it is the greatest stuff since the Ventures did Pipeline.

As far as the production goes I thought the drums are a tad overbearing and I could not distinctly hear the words. Luckily I referred to the lyric area and could follow what the heck this tune was about. Interesting lyrical content.
But it is lost in a meandering melody line void of originality, confidence and clarity.

Also a certain amount of looseness to the whole performance.
You have aquired the ability to write and record and these are indeed, wonderful skills, now give your talent and musicianship a chance to catch up. I hope my frankness is appreciated and does not dishearten the aspiring artist, hongteck.

this is good, bball ... i'm truly appreciative of your honest comments ... truth is rarity nowadays. anyway you'll be glad to know that i will not be featured singing in the CD that we are doing :-)

keep the truth coming !

You are a good sport hongteck, best of luck and continued growth.

I liked the tune mentioned it has alot of possibility, vocals are a little underplayed and mabey a a little more in the mids the guitar is a little high mabey was the playback I was receiving.
