"That" kid.
Hey everybody's, I'm back once again! Aaaand naturally, I came back because of an issue with my interface...I need help...

Because I've heard that Tascam's customer support ain't so hot, I'm including an edited copy of what I sent to their customer support on here:

I am an owner of the Tascam US-800, and I have been noticing some severe issues with it as of today that is rendering it un-usable. The description of the problem is as follows:

When the interface is plugged in, the device turns on and all of the connected mics work (I tested the mics while listening through the headphones input, and they worked). About 30 seconds to 2 minutes later, I hear an increase in noise (sort of a faint "swoosh" sound), and then a click- which leads to the sound cutting out (but the power light remains on and flickers very faintly- but does not completely blink off). 5-15 seconds later, I hear another click, and the green lights for channels 1 through 3 blinking in sequence momentarily, and the sound turns back on. It stays on for 15 seconds-2 minutes, and then repeats the whole process again (intermittently)- sometimes back-to-back.

The issue also happens the same way when the device is plugged in to a computer via USB-- the only difference is that the USB light goes out along with the sound, and intermittently turns back on along with the sound.

I am not within the 1 year coverage of your warranty, and I never had an issue with it within the warranty, but I am greatly hoping that something can be done.

Does this issue sound familiar to anyone? Let me know if the description of the problem is clear- I can take a video of it happening if necessary. I've never heard of anything like this happening to a US800. I took good care it before it crapped out, and this happened without any kind of warning. I am currently more broke now than when I was when I bought the thing (don't ask why), so right now, replacing it is not an option.

I also have 2-3 peeps that are waiting on drum tracks that are due for delivery between this weekend and next weekend, and it will be impossible to record them without my interface. I'm used to making excuses sometimes (for delays that occur with my delivering of drum tracks), but yeah, this is kind of not good... at all.

If anyone has any insight, tips, suggestions or anything at all on this, please share it- I would really appreciate it! :)

**I honestly wish I had time to be on the forum as much as I used to, but I have way too many commitments and projects to balance out. Those projects have led to me taking a long absence from all forums I'm part of.**

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but one thing I have figured out with the US-800 is that it doesn't like any other USB device on the same USB bus. I have several USB devices - memory sticks, hard drives, wireless receivers, etc. If any of these are running on the same bus as the US-800, I risk dropouts and freezing.

It's kind of a pain to figure out how many buses you have on your computer and which one(s) are wired to which jacks, but it would be worth your time to try unplugging every USB device you can except the US-800 and seeing if that fixes your problem.

No guarantees, but it's something I encountered myself.
