hello guys i have made 2 songs and put them up on
arcane.portland.co.uk...
I would love if i could get some good creative respons... if you want to know what im useing to record with just let me know

I listened to 1776.
Nothing like driving guitars. :)

Sorry I can't say anymore than I liked it. I honestly don't know enough of what to listen to to make a call or offer an idea. But I like it.

Burning Times begin breaking up so I'm downloading them both to listen to them.

Since 1776 was the only one I heard through, I was a bit disappointed there were no vocals. Are there some to be added later? If not I'd give some more guit time on a lead. The guits are really fine just fill in the empty spots without singing.

Yes, Since I'm fairly new at this recording stuff I'd like to know what you equipment you used to do your recording.
It really sounded good to me.
I'll post again later when they have downloaded and I hear them.

Ok, I listened to them with my untrained ear.
Everything sounded good. I could pick out the bass, drums/crashes and didn't notice any distortion. As far as panning and other things, I'd have no idea. Sorry. I'm not that far into my own recordings to know what I'm talking about.

Upon the third time through on both, I would like to retract my comment about vocals. I think they can stand on their own without it.
I still like the two tunes.
Good job.

=)

good to hear that you liked it!!
well both those songs are acctually covers of Iced Earth songs (gotta love 'em)
and 1776 is instrumental... but maybe i could add some more delay on the lead guitars.... i dont know.... but i cant add anything in that song... i accedently removed my files =(
so its only burning times that i can modify...

I pre-recorded the drums using some EQ and mic recomendations from the net... but i only used sm57 and a kick mic(?) and some condesator mic for.... over the drums(?)
the equipment i used was:
cubase 5.0
recorded the guitar with my pandora px3
i also put my bass through that but i have an bassamp and im going to try to use that one...
i recorded my vocals with an sm58...

i wonder if i could put any eq in the master to enlighten it?? ideas? ideas welcome!

Creatively I would prefer the ride cymbol to be hit at half or quarter time of what he's doing when he goes there. He seem to tire a bit on the double kick drum at times but I cant even begin to imagine how hard it must be to play the kick that fast. Also the guitar seems to race ahead a bit too, when it goes into the riffs. Does the guitarist have drums in his headphones or does he record live in the room with the drums. I find that I can stay in time better with a loud toppy drum mix belting my right ear. Im not talking overall timing, thats pretty damn good. Its the timing within the little riff bursts that im talking about. If you get all pumped an vibes up too much, in the excitement you tend to race along. Try sitting down relaxed on a comfortable chair. I think what im trying to say is the guitarist and the drummer need to play (or listen) to each other a bit more. I recon there both really good musicians too by the way. Bet hey rock live.

Sound wise I think your getting the sound your after. Sounds good to me. The guitar sounds great for this style of music.

yeah like i said before i pre recorded the drums then added the guitar when i had the drums on my comp... i wanted to have a metronome with my drummer but i could get one in time =(
so the drums get out of the beat or... well they get slowed
down...
and it REALLY hard to know when hes slowing down when i record the guitar...
But to tell the truth im acctually not aiming for a perfect recording that way...
im doing this to learn how to mix, use fx eq and that kind of stuff... im just kinda stuck right now...
