Hi all.https://homerecording.com/bbs/images/smilies/smile.gif

Not long ago, I purchased the M-Audio NRV-10 and I have enjoyed using it a great deal so far. Being a beginner though, I have a problem: I recently recorded a batch of songs and am ready to mix (and get some demo quality sound files/CDs out to friends). The thing is....I have no idea how to mix these songs down now that I have all the audio recorded. I've tried checking out tutorials and reading the manual, but I'm definitely missing something! How on earth do I mix and save/export my mixes??? Do I need some other piece of equipment to function as a MDR? ...I hope not...the whole reason I bought the NRV was because I thought I would side-step buying a 2nd piece of equipment!

If its pertinent, I'm using Logic Pro 8.0.2

All/any help is HUGELY appreciated!

Can you not import the tracks into Logic? That's probably what I would do and then mix from there. Or are the tracks stored on the mixer and you don't know how to get them off?

I guess I didn't explain that too well. Sorry for the confusion.

I have all the audio recorded and stored on my computer and I have it saved as a project in Logic. The next step I'd like to take is to mix it (preferrably using the NRV) and save the project mixes. I am able to route the sound back to the NRV for mixing, but I don't know how to save it from there...where do I send it/save it as I'm getting my mix right??

This is gonna require you to get a really strong grasp on the routing capabilities of the NRV-10 and of Logic.

Read the manuals.

Someone might take the time to explain step by step how to route this to work like you want, but as soon as you need to make a change in something, you'll have to be right back here, asking for help again.
Read the manuals, and picture exactly what signals are flowing where when you record and when you playback.
Figure out how to send individual tracks from logic to the NRV on their own mixer channels. It's in one of the manuals, I promise.

Read the manuals.

Sorry, that's a crappy answer, with an obvious theme, but it's the only way you're gonna get your money's worth out of the expensive equipment you just bought.

I know how to send the tracks from logic to their own mixer channels, I just can't figure out how to send the signal of the mix back into logic in order to save the mixes. I'll check over the manuals again, but I swear to gawd, I'm having a difficult time finding the answer...

whew!

The NRV-10 manual says that "firewire busses 9 and 10 carry the main mix signal."

I would guess you could arm a new stereo track in Logic with those set as it's inputs.
Not having worked with it, I'm not sure about what those two tracks are carrying (the manual seems to imply that they are pre-fader, so you wouldn't be able to use them to capture the mixing you're doing on the NRV), so if that doesn't work, I'm not sure.

If I were trying to mix like this (external mixer taking individual tracks from the DAW and mixing it down to a single stereo mix back into the DAW), I'd use a mixer that was separate from my interface (multiple outs from my interface into the mixer's individual channels, then the stereo out from that into two inputs on my interface), but that ain't really an option with your setup.
I'm sure they've got a way to implement it.
Good luck.
