I have an Alesis ADAT Black Face, and a Digidesign MBox. I use a laptop, so I don't have PCI slots. Is it possible to transfer ADAT files to my laptop or my MBox? Can I get a Optical to RCA converter, or Optical to FireWire or USB converter? Is there any way to get these ADAT file into my laptop so I can edit them?

Looks like you have to go in 2 at a time, analog.

Connect 2 channels at a time to the Mbox and record your 8 tracks into PT in 4 passes. Then line them up. That's about all you can do, I'm afraid.

Take care,
chris

Ok.

I can do that. Shouldn't be too hard, but will the sound quality be compromised by going in analog?

It doesn't matter, you don't have a choice.
But to answer your question, not really if you don't let it clip.

Lining them up will be the trick. In the VERY olden days, I'd slate all the tracks with a single "click" on all 8 tracks at exactly the same place and use this as a reference to drag them into sync.
