Crackling in recordings?

Anyone ever had any problems with crackling like a bad ground or somthing Im going to try to run everything into a power condintioner then if that does not work i will be lost, Any Ideas?
 
You'll need to provide a lot more details about your setup than that, if you expect people to be able to help you.........
 
Invite some hiphop artists, they are very good at finding crack in any situation.
 
lol, well here is the best Info i can give. I have the Amek buss'd out into the alesis hd24 then buss'd back into the Amek for play back, I have a headphone amp going Into aux 5 and 6, and minitors into speaker 1 and speaker 2, everything is what it is, the alesis is near alot of things tho, like my MAC and other things. I would Imagine that maybe its somthing in the room causing buzz. or maybe a bad ground maybe.. just wondering where I could start.

all the plugins are sepirated by wall as in 3 outlits per wall, each wall is a home run. So Im not so sure that its crossover.

Also I was thinking it might be my patchbay needs to be cleaned, but as I said the crackling comes and goes, its not constant.

unhook everything and just start with the most basic setup that you can. check for crackling, if its still present try a different cable and listen again. If no crackling at this stage then keep adding stuff back on untill it reappears. Thats how I would diagnoes it but maybe im just retarded?
 
Ok I have tried everything keeping the AFL/PFL way down. Looked over all the wires, Cleaned the patchbay... did not seem like it needed it. tested all my patchbay cables. everything looked good. So I thought maybe My alesis HD 24 needed a Quick format.... well I quick formated and now it wont read the HD. it says Reading % then... Dismounting.... And Im thinking its my reason for my crackling.... maybe not tho.


????
 
sorry man can't help you with the HD24, im still running regular old adats. At least you ruled out the non-digital pieces of your gear.
 
My Best Guesses so far are this,

#1 The Hardrive was going bad and had bad sectors on the head causing crackling/static.

#2 I did not have all my equipment plugged into the same ground.

#3 I had audio cables and power cables crossed.

#4 God hates me.
 
HD was bad. got new one, cracling is gone, works great.
