Hi,

I am pretty new to all this home recording milarky, so please go easy on me if this is a stupid question.

I am running Cubase SL3 and use an M-audio fast track 8R for my interface. The computer I am running has the following spec:
2GB RAM
AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 4200+ 2.2 GHz CPU
XP service pack 2.

I set all this stuff up and starting work on my first project. Got as far as writing some midi drum tracks. No Problems.

Then I came to recording some guitar over the top, by micing a cab and encounter a problem where the CPU usage in Cubase `spiked' every now and again. I managed to get round this problem by fiddling with the sample rate on the Fast Track's settings.

The problem I still have is that during playback I get a really annoying amount of clicking and popping (when the project has about 4 - 5 tracks, without many effects on them).

Could it be that my computer just isn't powerful enough to cope with this kind of stuff? I have read around the forum and my general feeling is that it should be.....are there any other things I can try to solve the problem.

Thanks in advance.

I have a PC with less power than yours, and have no issues...you have plenty of power.
Not familiar with that Cubase version...but it must be some setting in Cubase....maybe your buffer settings..?

Cheers for your advice....I have done a minimal amount of fiddling around with buffer settings, but to no avail.

Just in case this is not the issue.....is there anything else that I could try?

Thanks.
